Natalie and Andy – Miami Wedding Photographers – Sneak Peek!

What an awesome wedding!

You’ll have to wait to see more but we thought we’d give you a little apetizer while you wait 🙂

Natalie and Andy are one of those couples that … at the end of the wedding… we’d like to pack up and take home with us … adorably, ridiculously sweet, full of energy and oh soooo good looking! They’re both SCAD graduates, and they’re both a hoot.  I mean, seriously… who has a wedding cake with wizard figurines? Who says “we want flare in our photos!” ? Who plays the theme to Jurassic Park as one of the entrance songs? Awesome people do, that’s who!

By the way… if you’re a couple like that… that enjoys photography, don’t take yourself too seriously, and can tolerate me saying that you’re a geek just like me… talk to us, you just might be our ideal clients 🙂

Anyway… Wedding and reception both took place at a venue I hadn’t been to before, Villa Salcedo in Coral Gables. It was gorgeous, it was fun, it was full of emotions (most incredible best man speech ever… the guy was so full of emotion at one point I had to put my camera down and wipe my eyes too.

I’m getting ahead of myself… this is just a sneak peek! So… Peek: Wedding pictures, gorgeous people in 3, 2… 1

Mari Ann and Harold – Miami Engagement Photographers – Sneak Peek

First time out after the system switch. Yup you read it here first. Gone is the Canon Gear, we’re Nikon shooters now. Doesn’t matter to the clients… both systems are amazing, we just switched because it made sense for us, the Nikon gear seems to fit better with my way of doing things 🙂

Had a great engagement session with Mari Ann and Harold in Miami. Before I say anything else I have to share one image:

Now I know I’m not supposed to toot my own horn or anything… but

… damn that photo is HOT!

Last shot of the night too… a Steve Jobs if you will… you know “… one last thing”  – I even titled it on the spot in my head when I took it “Angels and Demons”

We finished the session in an INCREDIBLE apartment owned by a friend of the couple, which overlooks the city of Miami… here’s a shot from the window a few minutes before I started shooting them against the city lights.

More will follow in the full post.

Guys, what can I say… It was awesome being able to spend time with you guys. We really appreciate that you pretended that everything was going super-smoothly even though due to some “we’re new with this Nikon stuff” things were much much clunkier than they usually are! You were awesome. We hope you enjoy the photos and can’t wait to show you more and shoot your amazing wedding!

Mendez Family – Miami Portrait Photographer

We were contacted by Lily for what sounded like shooting a first communion in Miami. We’d never done that before, weren’t sure it would line up with our business (we’re Wedding photographers who also do some family photography) but for the most part we try to keep a “can’t hurt to try… and then decide if it’s something we want to pursue” mindset.

Thankfully follow-up chats with Lily revealed that she was indeed familiar with our work and was looking for a few less formal than your usual formal communion photos of her older girl and then have her change into casual attire and transition into a family portrait photography session.

Now that’s a plan we can easily sign up for! Bring it on!!!

We met at a local park in Miami and spent a couple of hours having a great time photographing Lily, Richard and their two adorable little girls.

Here are some of our favorites from the session:

Ok, and now an exclusive peek into how we roll…

We often hear from fellow photographers who are TERRIFIED at the idea of shooting children. Hum… ok, let me rephrase that… they’re terrified at the idea of “photographing” children he he he.

Of course this is a piece of cake for us for two reasons:

1. We have three delicious little ones of our own

2. They are BY FAR the hardest photographic subjects in the known universe (with the exception of black holes, which I hear cannot be photographed) because they know EXACTLY how to drive daddy and mommy up a wall (we don’t photograph as well when we’re up the wall)

At any rate… here are some tricks we can share on how to have a fun, productive session that involves children:

1. Child labor may be frowned upon by your local laws but if you do it really quick and don’t blog about it later complete with incriminating photographs you’re good: (here you see the youngest triggering the flash herself with the controller in her hand)

2. Art director? We don’t need no stinkin’ art director!

3. Promise the children something totally ridiculous. For example you could say something like “Ok, if we can get those two last shots I will then sit you on mommy’s lap, give you my camera and let you take photos of me as I roll on that patch of grass right there, like a crazy person” … now obviously I’m not the kind of dummy who would make such promises…. ’cause you know… they WILL REMEMBER and they WILL look at you with the same look the traffic court judge gives you when you plead NOT GUILTY and they will say “YOU PROMISED” … but you know… I’m just sayin…

Lily, Richard, thank you so much for trusting us with your family portraits. You can see the full set on our proof site. Click the link and then go to the Portraits area.

Many thanks go out to my friend and fellow photographer David Pun who was in town on his way back to New York from a Caribbean destination wedding. David came out with me and helped me during the session. The second communion photo up in the blog, and the two photos with me in them are his. Thanks David!!!

Yes this was our April Fool’s post for 2011 🙂

These gorgeous creations, wrapped in the finest polish leather are soaked for months in aloe vera lotion for an even more exquisite nasal experience (you can rub your nose on the cover of the album and you won’t experience any redness).
The miracle though happens as you turn the pages and are greeted by not only the colors of your wedding, but the smells as well!  Imagine being taken back to your hair and makeup session with our wonderful “13 – whymsical cloud of hair spray” scented page, transitioning to the next page where you’re putting on your gown and taking in a wiff of “5- Secret – you know the tagline!” (other scents from popular antiperspirants are available a-la-carte).
The experience can go in any direcition you’d like.  Every spread of your album can be laced with the wonderful smells of the day. Choose from:
“19 – Fresh Roses in Blossom“, “87 – rolling in a fields of daisies,” but also scents appropriate for the guy’s getting ready shots, such as “69 – Jack and Jose together at last,”  “49 – scents from the football field,” and “27 – just because my palms are sweaty doesn’t mean I’m freaking out”

The albums feature flush-mount seamless spreads on Kodak Ektachrome paper, the scents are abundantly poured upon the spreads so we do recommend allowing the album to air out for a period of 18 days after receiving your book.
